All Elden Ring Nightreign Classes, Characters and Abilities

Elden Ring Nightreign puts a roguelite spin on FromSoftware’s signature souls-like formula, but some staples, such as character classes, have been carried forward from the base game. In Nightreign, however, players must choose a Nightfarer out of a selection of prebuilt heroes that come with unique abilities and cater to specific playstyles. This means the class system isn’t as flexible as seen in Elden Ring. Nevertheless, the game offers solid variety across the board with eight different classes to pick from. So with that, let’s check out all the Nightfarer classes available in Elden Ring Nightreign.

All Nightfarer Classes in Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring Nightreign offers eight different nightfarer classes for players to pick from before they start their journey in Limveld. Each class has unique weapons, skills, passive abilities, and ultimate arts. But remember that you cannot change the character’s appearances; only modifications can be made to their armor. With that said, meet Elden Ring Nightreign’s heroes below:

1. Wylder

  • HP: 220
  • FP: 55
  • Stamina: 54
  • Playstyle: Versatile Warrior
  • Starting Gear: Wylder’s Greatsword and Wylder’s Small Shield
  • Skill: Claw Shot
  • Passive Ability: Sixth Sense
  • Ultimate Art: Onslaught Stake

Wylder is arguably the most beginner-friendly class in the game. The character is inherently a versatile warrior whose starting gear includes a Greatsword and a small shield. But he can make do with almost any melee weapon in the game, as his scaling leans heavily towards Strength and Dexterity. He’s also proficient at using bows and Crossbows when required.

His kit includes the excellent Sixth Sense passive ability, allowing Wylder to immediately come back to life after dying. While solo players will need to pass through a Site of Grace to recharge this ability, players with team members will be happy to know that the passive is reset on being revived by your fellow Nightfarers. He also has a grappling hook prosthetic equipped to drag or pull close to enemies to him as part of his character skill called Claw Shot.

Lastly, his Ultimate unleashes a powerful explosion caused causing an iron stake to be driven into your enemies. Named Onslaught Stake, the Ultimate Art dishes out a ton of close-range explosive damage, while also sending Wylder sliding backwards due to the recoil.

Given his acumen with melee weapons and impressive STR/DEX scaling, the Nightfarer is best used as a frontline attacker who charges headfirst into enemies to rapidly deplete their health bars. While his HP pool isn’t as sizable as the Raider’s, Wylder can still take a decent bit of punishment before needing to retreat and down a Flask.

2. Guardian

  • HP: 220
  • FP: 55
  • Stamina: 55
  • Playstyle: Tank
  • Starting Gear: Guardian’s Halberd and Guardian’s Greatshield
  • Skill: Whirlwind
  • Passive Ability: Steel Guard
  • Ultimate Art: Wings of Salvation

A tanky hero with a huge chunk of health and stamina is always a sound option for melee builds. So players who love to play defense while wielding heavy equipment such as a Halberd and a Greatshield will find plenty to like in the Guardian. He embodies the tank archetype in every sense and scales best with Strength. These attributes make the Guardian an excellent pick for solo players.

His passive ability, Steel Guard, sees the Nightfarer bunker down and brace for impact using the shield against heavy blows. The ability is triggered by entering a defensive posture during which your stamina gradually drains. Attacks repelled with the posture active benefit from a dramatic Guard Boost, allowing him to seek counterattacks more safely.

The Guardian’s character skill, Whirlwind, lets players whip up a wind-churning cyclone that can elevate enemies while deflecting incoming arrows. Lastly, the Wings of Salvation Ultimate Art sees the character leap up high in the air and come crashing down to leave opponents devastated, and also raise a protective barrier.

All in all, the Guardian’s kit lends him a high degree of self-sufficiency, meaning he can operate solo or divert enemy attention away from his teammates.

3. Recluse

  • HP: 140
  • FP: 70
  • Stamina: 54
  • Playstyle: Sorceress
  • Starting Gear: Recluse’s Staff, Glintstone Pebble, Glintstone Arc
  • Skill: Magic Cocktail
  • Passive Ability: Elemental Defense
  • Ultimate Art: Soulblood Song

Next up, we have the Recluse for players who prefer casting spells from afar. As a sorceress, the character has various magical abilities at her disposal, including fire, magic, holy, and lightning spells. Her abilities can be tricky to grasp initially, but they’re all built around siphoning FP from enemies to sustain her spell casting or produce a Magic Cocktail.

With S-tier scaling in both Intelligence and Faith, the Recluse can cast all manner of spells and incantations, be it offensive, defensive, or support-based. She is best utilized as a range damage dealer for multiple reasons. Chief among them is her horrendously low HP pool and damage resistance, which could see her get downed in seconds if an enemy manages to close the distance.

Given this, we highly recommend avoiding this character for solo play, as she needs a tanky teammate to thrive on the battlefield. As for the Recluse’s kit, her passive ability, named Elemental Defense, lets her recharge FP by collecting affinity residues from affected enemies. It’s worth noting that your allies can also drop these residues.

Stocking up on affinity residues fills the three orbs on the Recluse’s triangular skill gauge. Once all three are filled, players can unleash a completely unique spell whose properties, including damage and elemental effects, depend on the combination of residues used to create it. These spells are known as Magic Cocktails.

Her Ultimate Art, Soulblood Song, is an overpowered move that sees the sorceress brand nearby enemies with blood runes, allowing her fellow Nightfarers to replenish their health and FP by attacking the marked enemy.

4. Duchess

  • HP: 165
  • FP: 65
  • Stamina: 54
  • Playstyle: Stealthy and Agile Assassin
  • Starting Gear: Duchess’ Dagger
  • Skill: Restage
  • Passive Ability: Magnificent Pose
  • Ultimate Art: Finale

The Duchess comes with proficiency in DEX-based weapons and INT-based spells. Her high FP pool allows players to take advantage of both these attributes by augmenting magic damage onto her weapons, while wielding a Staff in her off-hand to cast spells during combat. She’s also a nimble figure boasting excellent mobility, which makes her an evasive character on the battlefield. Admittedly, her HP pool is on the lower side, meaning players will need to make the most out of her deft movement.

Her passive ability, Magnificent Poise, shows off the character’s mobility, allowing the Duchess to dodge multiple times, more than any other class. Her Restage skill is also quite powerful, as activating it will basically re-inflict the damage your attack combos caused seconds earlier. It’s also worth noting that you can trigger the skill mid-combo, giving you the freedom to string together flowing attack sequences.

If you and your friends need to go into complete stealth mode, Duchess’s Ultimate Art called Finale offers a brief period of invisibility. Triggering it will see the character render herself and nearby allies completely invisible with a quick swish of her cape. With that being said, you can still suffer damage if hit in this state. And enemies with high perception can still pinpoint your location.

5. Ironeye

  • HP: 200
  • FP: 55
  • Stamina: 60
  • Playstyle: Archer
  • Starting Gear: Ironeye’s Bow
  • Skill: Marking
  • Passive Ability: Eagle Eye
  • Ultimate Art: Single Shot

Ironeye, just as the name suggests, is a Nightfarer that specializes in projectile-based weapons such as Bows and Crossbows. The character scales best with Dexterity and Arcane, and is adept at raining down a barrage of arrows in the direction of his enemies across a variety of ranges. Given his high DEX stat, Ironeye can technically wield curved swords, but the rest of his kit greatly emphasizes ranged combat.

The class comes with the Eagle Eye passive ability, which increases the odds of an enemy dropping loot for every member of the Ironeye’s group. Next up is his character Skill called Marking, which sees the assassin slice a weak point into his enemy with a swift dagger attack. This weak point becomes highlighted in the form of a red X mark and can be targeted to inflict roughly 10% more damage.

Lastly, Ironeye’s ultimate, Single Shot, unleashes a fearsome arrow that travels at a great speed and targets a single enemy. On making contact, it creates a massive shockwave that deals damage over a large area while knocking down the small/medium-sized enemies situated nearby. While there are two elements to the Single Shot, the desired target is only inflicted by one damage type – either from the arrow or the resulting shockwave.

What makes this Ultimate Art worthy of its name is its capability to hit its intended target no matter what. The arrow can travel through walls, floors, cliffs, and any other obstructions unhindered, and also render Ironeye vulnerable during the firing animation.

6. Raider

  • HP: 360
  • FP: 55
  • Stamina: 55
  • Playstyle: Juggernaut
  • Starting Gear: Raider’s Greataxe
  • Skill: Retaliate
  • Passive Ability: Fighter’s Resolve
  • Ultimate Art: Totem Stela

The Guardian isn’t the only tank character, as there’s another hulking hero who is blessed with a ton of HP and wields a heavy weapon. The Nightfarer in question is the relentless seafarer known as the Raider. Tailored for players who enjoy pure STR builds, the character is built around taking punishment and delivering it back twofold.

His combat mechanics are on the simpler side, and his stat distribution is focused on increasing his damage resistance. Unlike the Guardian, who relies on Guard Counters, the Raider thrives when he strikes hard and fast while seeking to overwhelm his opponents by the sheer onslaught of his assault. The class is best-suited for players who prefer a streamlined gameplay experience unburdened by complex resource management or a cumbersome arsenal of spells.

His character skill, Retaliate, plays into this playstyle as the character tanks through damage before dishing out a devastating reversal. Depending on the type of enemy, this counter-attack can have a variety of effects, including a knockdown on smaller enemies and a stagger effect on gigantic opponents when using an enhanced version of Retaliate.

The Fighter’s Resolve passive goes hand-in-hand with the character skill and boosts his Retaliate potency. It also ensures that he can’t be knocked down while using the skill, and that he retains a sliver of HP even after sustaining a heavy attack.

His ultimate art is called Totem Stela, with which players can call forth a towering tombstone. It is used to block the enemies’ attacks, take the high ground, and, more importantly, boost the strength of the allies surrounding the gravestone.

7. Executor

  • HP: 220
  • FP: 55
  • Stamina: 58
  • Playstyle: Samurai
  • Starting Gear: Executor’s Blade
  • Skill: Cursed Sword
  • Passive Ability: Tenacity
  • Ultimate Art: Aspects of the Crucible – Beast

For players who enjoy intense melee duels and DEX-based weapons, the Executor is the perfect high-risk, high-reward Nightfarer. The masked swordsman is adept at wielding Katanas and inflicting status ailments such as bleed. The character shines when locked in combat against a single enemy, as his flurry of relentless attacks can break their poise, all while applying element damage on account of his high Arcane stat. This makes him an excellent option for tackling bosses, but the Executor can get overwhelmed by a horde of enemies.

His kit is among the most exciting in the game. For starters, his passive ability, aptly named Tenacity, allows him to partially shrug off status ailments used against him, garnering a boost in damage and stamina recovery speed for a few seconds.

The Cursed Sword skill sees the Executor unsheathe his signature weapon and take up a unique stance. This greatly reduces his movement speed, but makes him capable of deflecting most attacks with a well-timed block. Successful deflections build up stance damage on the attacker, with the Cursed Sword charging up with every hit it negates. When fully charged, the Executor can trigger its weapon art and dash forward in a low swing, emitting a wave of gold that deals high damage to enemies. It’s worth noting that, unlike other character skills, the Cursed Sword has no cooldown and can be sheathed and unsheathed freely.

As for his Ultimate Art, the Aspects of the Crucible – Beast helps address his shortcomings in dealing with enemy mobs. When triggered, the Executor transforms into a monstrous beast with large claws, that comes with its own light and heavy attacks, movement abilities, and even a weapon art. Needless to say, the transformation lasts for a limited time, with each attack depleting the ultimate gauge.

8. Revenant

  • HP: 200
  • FP: 80
  • Stamina: 54
  • Playstyle: Spirit Summoner
  • Starting Gear: Revenant’s Cursed Claws, Finger Seal
  • Skill: Summon Spirit
  • Passive: Necromancy
  • Ultimate Art: Immortal March

The Revenant is primarily a support character with an emphasis on complex spells and summon magic. She comes with impressive scaling across Arcane, Intelligence, and Faith, but works best while using Dragon Communion Incantations. Her HP pool is miserable, and her melee capabilities are barely passable, so it’s important to stick to the backline and use the Revanant’s summoning abilities to create distractions for enemies. This will not only give your teammates clear windows to attack, but it’ll also allow the Revenant to charge up more powerful spells to dish out maximum damage.

Her passive ability, Necromancy, does exactly as the name suggests and sees the character reanimate a defeated foe as an allied phantom. These ghostly creatures will engage enemies and dissipate after one minute. Her character skill, Spirit Summon, allows players to spawn one of three powerful spectral allies. These include Helen the Page, Frederick the Pumpkin Head, or Sebastian the Giant Skeleton. All three allies behave differently and have their own ultimate attacks that can be triggered manually by activating the Revenant’s Ultimate Art.

Speaking of which, her ultimate, known as Immortal March, is a supportive ability that renders the character and her active spirit summon unkillable. It also revives near-death teammates and briefly turns active Nightfarers unkillable as well. With that being said, the ultimate does not grant invulnerability, meaning Nightfarers and the spirit summon can still suffer damage, but their HP will only fall as low as one for the ultimate’s duration.

And that’s a wrap on our list of all Elden Ring Nightreign classes and characters. Which class will you be picking for your first playthrough? Let us know in the comments.
